The short version
BYDB has no user accounts, sets no cookies of its own, and stores your builds only in your own browser. The two places data leaves your device are: generating an AI render (your selected components, and your bike photo if you upload one, are sent to Google's Gemini API) and clicking a Buy link (which takes you to the shop via our affiliate network).
Who we are
BYDB ("Build Your Dream Bike") is operated from Sweden. For any privacy question or request, use the Feedback button on the builder — include your email address in the form if you'd like a reply.
Your builds stay in your browser
Builds, your garage, theme preference, and shop filter settings are saved in your browser's local storage. They never leave your device unless you explicitly share a build. Clearing your browser data removes them.
Analytics
We use Umami, a privacy-focused, cookieless analytics tool, to count page views and anonymous product interactions (for example, that a visitor generated a render — not who). No personal data is collected, no cookies are set, and nothing is shared with advertisers.
AI bike renders
When you generate a render, the names and product photos of your selected components are sent to Google's Gemini API to create the image. If you use the "my own bike photo" feature, that photo is sent too — please don't upload photos containing people, license plates, or anything else you wouldn't want processed. Generated renders may be cached in our cloud storage (Cloudflare R2) under an anonymous build fingerprint so that identical builds load instantly; the cache contains no personal information.
Shared build links
Sharing a build encodes your component list (and a link to its render, if generated) into the URL. Anyone with the link can view it — share accordingly.
Affiliate links
Some product links on this site are affiliate links. If you purchase through them, we may earn a small commission — at no extra cost to you. This helps keep BYDB free and independent. Buy links go through the Awin affiliate network before landing on the shop's site; Awin and the shop may set cookies on their own domains to attribute the sale. Their privacy policies apply from the moment you leave BYDB.
Prices and availability
Prices and stock levels come from shop data feeds and can lag behind the shop's live site. The price at the shop's checkout is always the one that counts.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you have the right to access, correct, or delete personal data we hold about you. In practice we hold almost none — but if you believe we do, send us a message via the Feedback button on the builder (with your email so we can respond) and we'll resolve it.
